Following the introduction of new national restrictions from Thursday 5 November, we are making some changes to our activities and services.

The physical and mental wellbeing of our students and staff remains our priority. Your Students’ Union is here to support and champion all Bath Spa students and even though we are entering another difficult period in what is an already tough year, we are committed to helping you to have the best experience possible.

Your Sabbatical Officers have been working closely with the University to support decision making and to represent you and your interests throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so as we enter this new period of lockdown. Your Vice President Education, Ceri Bailey, will also continue to work alongside our fantastic network of Course Reps and Senior Academic Reps to ensure the quality of your academic experience.

Social activities

We are currently developing an exciting programme of online social events and activities, working alongside our clubs and societies. More information will be available next week.

And we will continue to use our Facebook community Bath Spa Social Space to help you to stay connected and have fun - be sure to join if you haven’t already!

Students’ Union Shop and Bar & Kitchen

The Students’ Union Shop will remain open throughout lockdown, though opening hours are subject to change and will be confirmed next week. The Shop will remain open 10am - 4pm for the rest of Extra Curricular Week (Thursday 5 and Friday 6 November).

The Students’ Union Bar & Kitchen will be closed from Thursday 5 November and will trial a take away service from next week featuring our homemade pizzas and some delicious specials!

Clubs and Societies

All our clubs and societies will operate online for the duration of lockdown. We are grateful for the hard work of all committee members who are continuing to provide a great experience for all their members despite the challenging circumstances.

Keeping our community safe and well

We know it is an incredibly difficult time and you may need some support. Please do look after yourself and look out for your course mates and flat mates and contact us if you have any concerns.

Your Students’ Union Advice Centre offers free, confidential advice and support. Please email [email protected] for general wellbeing support, help with academic issues (including mitigating circumstances and academic appeals), housing queries, sexual health advice or if you would just like someone to talk to. Or you can join our weekly online drop ins every Wednesday anytime between 1pm and 4pm. More information is here.

You can also contact the University’s Student Wellbeing Services at [email protected]

Whilst we appreciate the new lockdown is not what any of us wanted, it is important we all abide by the restrictions, both when on and off campus, to protect ourselves and the community. We are in this together.

If you have any questions or there is anything we can do to better represent and support you at this time please contact us via social media or at [email protected]

Stay safe and take care.
