Lockdown 2.0 at your Students’ Union

During November, we will be running lots of events to keep you occupied during the second lockdown. Have a look and get involved! 

For all the quizzes and a couple of other events (e.g. Friday Night Bingo and Scavenger Hunt), we will be awarding prizes to the winning individual or team. Winning teams will win a £30 voucher of their choosing and winning individuals will be awarded an SU hoody and SU cup OR £10 voucher of their choosing.

Week 1 (9th-15th November)

Bristol and Bath Student Volunteering Series

When: Thursday 12th November, 15:00-15:45

We have teamed up with University of Bath, UWE Bristol and the University of Bristol and their Students' Unions to run a series of online volunteering talks throughout November to enable students to find out about a variety of charities and opportunities to engage with the local community.

This event will be focused on culture and you’ll be able to hear from SS Great Britain and the Museum of East Asian Art. 


Meg’s Book Club

When: Thursday 12th November, 16:00-17:00

Join your VP Welfare and Community for an afternoon of talking about books. Bring what you've been reading recently, your favourite book or come along to get a new recommendation. We will talk about each book and have a natter about what we liked about it, or didn't- and have a fun hour talking about books. 


A Night of Games

When: Thursday 12th November, 17:00-19:00

Join your Students’ Union and Video Game Society for a fun evening of games on netgames.io. We will be playing One Night Werewolf, Spyfall and many other deception style games. Test out your lying skills and avoid being detected as a spy.  All you will need is a phone. No previous experience of these games is necessary. 


Sabb Chat - Undergraduate

When: Friday 13th November, 13:00-13:30

The Sabbs are back with their Sabb chats. If you are an undergraduate student and have any questions for them or just fancy a natter then come and join them for this relaxed session. Tea and biscuits are highly encouraged.


Mindfulness Space

When: Friday 13th November, 14:00-15:00

We have created a space for students to practice mindfulness whilst also being a safe space to talk about mental health. There will be a different theme each week and we will carry out mindfulness activities. Two Students’ Union staff members will be there to signpost you to the right place after the event if required. 


Sunday Night Quiz 

When: Sunday 15th November, 19:00-20:30

Join your favourite SU Bar quiz host Tristan for the online edition of the Sunday Night Quiz. There will be questions covering a wide range of topics, including quote rounds, guess the song name and so much more. Join us every Sunday during lockdown and you could be the quiz champion and win the prize. 


Week 2 (16th-22nd November)

Hamilton Quiz 

When: Monday 16th November, 19:00-20:30

Join your VP Welfare and Community for a night of Hamilton and test your knowledge of this fantastic musical with a fun quiz.


Bristol and Bath Student Volunteering Series

When: Tuesday 17th November, 10:00-10:45

We have teamed up with University of Bath, UWE Bristol and the University of Bristol and their Students' Unions to run a series of online volunteering talks throughout November to enable students to find out about a variety of charities and opportunities to engage with the local community.

This event will be focused on carers and support and you’ll be able to hear from Shout and Carers Support Centre.


Stretch It Out

When: Tuesday 17th November, 15:00-16:00

Join your SU President Emily for some gentle movement to take a break from your studies. We will be stretching our bodies and taking some time for ourselves.


Sabb Chat - Postgraduate  

When: Wednesday 18th November, 13:00-13:30

The Sabbs are back with their Sabb chats. If you are a postgraduate student and have any questions for them or just fancy a natter then come and join them for this relaxed session. Tea and biscuits are highly encouraged.


Scavenger Hunt

When: Wednesday 18th November, 19:30-20:30

Join the Walking and Mountaineering Society for a virtual get-together chat and scavenger hunt! We will be challenging you to find household items around your home and the one who manages to retrieve the most items will win a prize from the SU. 


Yoga Class 

When: Wednesday 18th November, 18:30-19:30

Join the Yoga Society and their instructor Joanna for an online yoga class. This event is open to all students, even if you've never done yoga before.


Bristol and Bath Student Volunteering Series

This event will be focused on homelessness and you will be able to hear from Help Bristol’s Homeless and St Mungo's.

Celebrate the end of the week with a night of bingo. We will be playing classic bingo but with some added twists along the way. Come along for a fun night!

Week 3 (23rd- 29th November)

Sustainable Fashion Week: Machine- free mending

These easy mending techniques require really minimal equipment and are easy to get your head around. No more mourning over lost items – revive your wardrobe and save yourself money and your clothes from ending up in landfill.

This event is being run as part of BSU Sustainable Fashion Week which is being led by your Sustainability Rep, Amber.


Signature Week with The Baking Society 

When: Monday 23rd November, 18:00-19:00

The Baking Society are running a fun online baking event open to everyone. You will be creating your favourite and most interesting bakes so we can discuss and see the baked goods via Google Hangouts. It will be a very casual affair, with lots of chatting and of course cake! If you have any questions you can contact Baking Society on Facebook.


Harry Potter Quiz

When: Monday 23rd November, 19:00-20:30

Attention witches, wizards and muggles, test your knowledge of all things Harry Potter with a magical quiz hosted by your Harry Potter Society and SU President Emily


Sustainable Fashion Week: Natural Tie-Dye 

When, Tuesday 24th November, 11:00-12:00 (But you can watch the recording at any time)

A super fun lockdown activity – who doesn’t love a bit of tie-dye? And this technique is so simple and completely zero waste. All you need is any light-coloured clothing item ready for a makeover, some leftover onion skins, a saucepan, a few rubber bands, and some water.The results are amazing!

The Social Dilemma: Film Screening and Discussion

When: Tuesday 24th November, 18:00-20:30

Join us for Netflix’s ‘The Social Dilemma’ – a recently released docu-drama delving into the darker side of social media, as told by key employees in the sector. This viewing will be followed by a discussion/Q&A for anyone that would like to join or be involved further in raising awareness of issues shown in this film.

Holey socks are the worst and replacing them is always more expensive than you remembered. Darning your socks puts an end to uncomfy toes and is simpler than you might think.

Lockdown attire consists of mainly pjs so we all may need a reminder of how to dress… but more outfits doesn’t equal more clothes. Come along to this event for restyling inspiration on how to get the most out of your wardrobe and make your clothes suitable for all occasions.

Among Us Night

Your Video Games Society will be hosting a games evening to give you an entertaining break from your studies. Among Us is part puzzler, part mystery, part murder simulator. Complete tasks and try to detect the imposters.

Fast fashion brands may have conditioned us to get bored of our clothes more quickly, but we don’t have to resort to spending our money on new items to get excited about our wardrobes. Fall back in love with your clothes by reworking them – don’t panic it is much easier than you think and requires minimal equipment (but a bit of adrenaline as you make the first cut).

After the success of our first Disney quiz, your VP Welfare and Community, Megan Robertson will be running another. We have created different questions so you can still attend this event even if you participated in our last Disney quiz during Big Hello. Be prepared for lots of singing from Meg.

Your SU is hopping on the TikTok trend and creating some VERY serious presentations for an informative evening. If you have some funny stories or strong opinions join us in making your own presentation to share with the rest of us.
