Looking for the Latest Opportunities...

Looking to volunteer? Then you're in the right place! Last year, over 450 BSU students volunteered through Just V giving their time, energy and skills to help out local, national and international voluntary organisations and in doing so, developing personally and professionally.

You can decide which opportunities will suit you best dependent on the time commitment you're willing to make. If you need a little more encouragement why not check out what's in it for you?

Short term projects:  Ideal for those who are looking for a taster of volunteering or who, due to hectic or volatile schedules, are unable to volunteer more than once or twice. deal if you want a taster of volunteering:

Quickies: One-off, day long projects with local charities or organisations. You can do as many or as few Quickies as you like.

RAG (Raising and Giving): If you're interested in fundraising or campaigning for local and national causes through a variety of fun and different activities, then RAG is for you!

Medium term projects: Just V arranges a number of volunteer projects which require a regular term-time commitment of 2 - 3 hours per week for a limited period of time (usually anything from 5 - 10 weeks). Projects are arranged both on- and off-campus and relevant skills training is usually provided: 

Student Projects:Teams of students volunteer off-campus for local charities or organisations. Projects usually last up to 3 months.

Student-Led Campaigns:Maybe you'd like to plan and run a campaign on student welfare issues? eg alcohol and drugs awareness, or personal safety. The Students' Union offer opportunities to get involved throughout the year. These are often closely linked to various schools can be a great way to apply your academic knowledge.

Society Volunteering: If you're a member of a Students' Union society and want to share your skills and talents with the local community - through demonstrations, workshops and performances, or perhaps to raise money for a specific cause, then JustV will support you.

Long term projects: The below projects are often better for those who have already had some volunteer experience or if not, who are willing and able to make a commitment over a couple of hours a week for a sustained period of time (e.g. one academic year). Full induction and training is provided:

V-Base: A database of ongoing volunteer placements across Bath and Bristol. Ranges from Youth Work to PR to community radio.

Peer Support Network: 25 existing BSU students provide informal and confidential support to other students. Commitment is for at least one academic year.

JustV's Volunteer Academy: The Academy takes up to 10 students and, over the course of one academic year, enhances them both personally and professionally through a series of volunteer activity and training. The students act as ambassadors for volunteering an arrange 2-3 one-off volunteer projects over the course of the year.

Student Academic Reps (StARs): StARs help to bridge the gap between what the University provides and what the students need. StARs are fully trained to talk with their lecturers & course staff to assess the best ways to make the student experience easier. Commitment is for one academic year.

International Volunteering: Thinking of volunteering abroad? We can provide lots of advice on dos and don'ts and access to some highly respected organisations that arrange volunteer opportunities abroad.

Virtual volunteering: You can volunteer from the comfort of your own room with virtual (ie online) volunteer opportunities.

Certificate in Volunteering Achievement (CVA):If you start volunteering, then make sure you get some recognition for it through JustV's own certification scheme.

Training:JustV arrange training workshops through the Bath Spa Plus programme as well as providing induction materials when necessary.
