The Athletic Union & BUCS

The Athletic Union

The AU is the part of the union that deals with all the sport teams. These are the most directly involved group of people we have the union because weekly they go out and represent us on a national level.

Last year was an exceptional year for sport here, with all our teams finishing in top of their leagues, and football doing really well indeed in the cup competitions as well as their Saturday and Sunday leagues. If you are a member of the AU it costs a bit more to join, but it does include insurance. Our teams range from Men’s Rugby to Polo to Cheerleading. It really does vary. Every year we improve our teams, getting more teams into national leagues.

There are regular AU meetings where we try and establish what we are all doing, and how we can work together to make the sporting experience at bath spa university even better.

British University and College Sport –BUCS

BUCS is the sporting league that our larger teams are involved in, at the moment the number of teams we have involved stands at seven. www.bucs.org.uk

Men’s Rugby
Men’s Hockey
Women’s Hockey
Men’s Football
Cricket
Netball 1st/2nd teams.

By the end of this year this will have increased dramatically, and women’s rugby and possibly women’s football will be added to the list along with cheerleading. The teams who are involved in BUCS represent the university on a national stage, so EVERYONE has to get involved in supporting these guys as much as possible when they play on Wednesday afternoons!
